I just recently made my first trip with the KLR650A which consisted of a six hour trip from Shreveport, LA to Wichita Falls, Texas to help out with Expedition Awareness.
I will say being my first trip on a motorcycle and especially on the KLR it was quite a bit to get used to. Really different from tooling around town to and from work.
So you probably have read I have a IMS tank on this bike. I will say that it was nice to have 6.6 gal of fuel on board at around 319 miles i felt it sputter and promptly switch it over to reserve.
Heat was a problem though, but with the FirstGear Kathmandu jacket and the 1.5ltr hydration pack took the edge off. I did haft to stop and get a Gatorade.
